I am passionate about working alongside people who have experienced trauma. It is a core value to centre people's own voices in the exploration of the impacts of trauma and their responses to their experiences.
I am passionate about working alongside a range of concerns including:
family and relationship issues
sexual abuse, childhood trauma
trauma and PTSD (including complex PTSD and developmental trauma)
depression/anxiety,
self-harm and suicide
identity and self-worth
postpartum issues including birth trauma and transitions.
I am a qualified social worker with over 13 years' experience working in a community family violence service. My approach is feminist-informed which helps me to understand that the way people relate to the problems they face is constructed by the person’s alignment with intersections of their identities. I am committed to constantly interrogating power.
I strive to set up a working relationship that is non-judgemental and anti-oppressive. I wish to support people to tell their stories in the ways that are important to them. I aim to build a therapeutic relationship that assists people to stand up to blame, shame and guilt, whilst upholding dignity.
